LUV Training
Our course is designed to build drivers' knowledge and practical skill in the characteristics and operation of a Light Utility Vehicle (LUV). This is a non-unit standard, 1-day course, ideal for refreshers or upskilling.
Ideal for trainees:
- Have limited experience
- Want practical, hands-on experience without unit standard registration
- Haven't done any compliance refresher training in the last five years (recommended)
Practical Assessment includes:
- Understanding and using vehicle technology and different drive modes with available vehicles on site
- How tyre pressures and tread design affect traction and handling
- Conducting thorough pre- and post-vehicle checks
- Techniques for driving on low-friction surfaces
- Identifying potential hazards that affect vehicle design, stability and control
- Applying correct and risk-reducing driving techniques negotiating uneven, downhill, uphill and side-sloping terrain
- Navigating water crossings (venue dependent)
This course includes a mix of theory and practical training and assessment.
Prerequisites
- Drivers must be at least 16 years of age.
Course Numbers and Pricing
- Cost: $2,400 + GST (Group rate, up to 8 trainees)
- Practical site hire from $250 + GST per day.
- Travel to the practical venue is required.

Vehicles
- Vehicles are the client's responsibility to supply (ideally one vehicle per 1–2 trainees).
