Government Co-Funded Fuel Saving Programme

Save up to 50%
on fuel saving
in-cab coaching.

TR Driver Training has partnered with EECA - the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority - to co-fund in-cab driver coaching for heavy vehicle operators.

Choose your in-cab session

Every in-cab session is conducted by an experienced TR trainer in your vehicle, on your routes. We work around your daily operations - not the other way around.

Coaching happens in real time during the session. Every driver also receives a written report with specific findings and recommendations.

The Coaching Process

What happens in the cab

01

Pre-drive check

Our trainer meets you at your site and rides along from the start. We begin with a vehicle safety and compliance walk-around to establish baseline habits before a wheel turns.

02

On-road coaching

Our trainer coaches on speed management, braking, cornering, and hazard response, with a particular focus on observation, anticipation, and planning, as well as the driver's use of in-cab technology.

03

Real-time feedback

This is where the fuel savings happen. Feedback is given in the cab, in the moment - correcting habits as they occur, not in a debrief room days later.

04

Written report

The session doesn't end when the cab door closes. Every driver receives a written report with specific findings and actionable recommendations - giving drivers and fleet managers a clear record.

Fuel Saving In-cab Coaching

We help heavy vehicle operators reduce their fuel costs.

Calculate your possible fuel savings in seconds.

Our in-cab coaching doesn't just assess performance - they identify the habits quietly draining your fleet budget.
Conservative estimates show a 3% fuel saving from in-cab coaching alone. The calculator below shows exactly what that means for your operation.

The Proof Behind The Numbers

Why we use 3%
not the full figure

Our savings calculator applies a conservative 3% fuel saving - deliberately understated. It's the kind of number a cautious finance team would accept without argument.

The reality is that structured driver training consistently delivers more. SAFED NZ - New Zealand's government-backed safe and fuel-efficient driving programme - has trained over 2,000 NZ drivers since 2010, with independently verified results well above our 3% baseline. For operators who want to go further, TR Driver Training is a registered SAFED NZ provider. A full SAFED course builds on the foundations of an in-cab evaluation with structured theory and a nationally recognised NZTA certificate.
