Light Vehicle Driver Evaluation

WHY DO A DRIVER EVALUATION?

Most incidents don’t start with bad intention, they start with habits. Small, unchallenged patterns that quietly add up in fuel costs, wear and tear, and insurance claims. An evaluation puts a trained eye on those habits before they cost you.

  • A vehicle used for work is a workplace under the Health & Safety at Work Act. Employers have a duty of care to anyone driving a Class 1 vehicle on their behalf.
  • Smoother driving cuts fuel consumption and reduces wear on tyres, brakes, and other consumables across your fleet.
  • Fewer incidents means a cleaner claims history and a better insurance risk profile at your next renewal.
  • Coaching builds confidence in difficult conditions, road rage situations, and high-pressure driving environments

WHAT YOU GET

Our evaluators coach as they assess. Drivers leave with a clear understanding of what they’re doing, why it matters, and what to change.

Identifies real risk

A colour-coded report flags the habits that expose your business to loss, before an incident puts them on record.

Cuts running costs

Better technique reduces fuel spend and extends the life of brakes, tyres, and other consumables in your light vehicle fleet.

Builds driver confidence

Drivers who understand what good looks like handle difficult situations with more composure and consistency.

Clear written report

Every evaluation ends with a detailed report that your organisation can act on, suitable for H&S, HR, and insurance documentation.

PRICING Simple per-person pricing

All prices exclude GST and are charged per person. Duration is matched to the evaluation type — we’ll recommend the right option for your situation.

Pre-employment driver evaluation

A snapshot assessment with no coaching — designed to give you a clear, objective picture of a candidate’s Class 1 driving standard before you make a hiring decision.
✓ Run over a set route for consistent, comparable results across candidates
✓ Identifies any issues that need remedial action before the driver starts
✓ Highlights opportunities for targeted up-skilling or retraining
✓ Includes a written report — up to 2 hours including report preparation

Driver evaluation

For existing Class 1 drivers who would benefit from structured coaching and formal assessment. Conducted on-job where possible so the evaluation mirrors real working conditions.
✓ Combines in-cab coaching with formal assessment
✓ Colour-coded report identifies loss and risk factors for the business
✓ Conducted on your actual routes where possible
✓ Between 2 and 4 hours, or a full day for more thorough assessment
✓ Detailed written report provided on completion

Post-incident driver evaluation

For Class 1 drivers returning to the wheel after an incident. Structured to identify contributing factors and give the driver — and your business — confidence before they resume normal duties.
✓ Uses a set route for consistent, appropriate evaluation conditions
✓ Identifies issues that need remedial action before the driver returns
✓ Highlights opportunities for up-skilling and retraining
✓ Up to 2 hours including report preparation

What to expect

Evaluations are conducted on a route that reflects the environment your driver normally operates in. The evaluator coaches throughout the session where needed, and every driver receives a full debrief at the end.

Before you arrive: Drivers must hold a current Class 1 licence — bring it on the day. Make sure the vehicle provided is legally compliant.

After the evaluation, a full written report is provided to your organisation. It identifies risk factors, notes areas for improvement, and supports your Health & Safety documentation.
